Simonyan says Azerbaijan is creating artificial difficulties in signing peace treaty

YEREVAN, December 7. /ARKA/. Armenian National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan accused today Azerbaijan of trying to artificially complicate the conclusion of the peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku.
Speaking at a press briefing Simonyan said that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are well aware of one another’s proposals, but constant talks about the issue is creating artificial problems for moving forward.
Asked whether a peace treaty may be signed before the end of the year, Simonyan said he did not know.
"This treaty can be signed within 10, five days if you want. We have sent our proposals. It was the sixth exchange of peace proposals; if the Azerbaijani side does not change anything, does not present a new proposal, we can sign the treaty within a few days," he said.
Earlier, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to the peace agenda despite new risks and threats arising from ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh and the forced displacement of its population. --0--
