State orders worth 171 billion drams placed at Armenian military-industrial complex enterprises - Minister
YEREVAN, September 19/ARKA/. State orders worth 171 billion drams have been placed at enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Armenia, stated Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.
"Armenian Defense Ministry has concluded 52 three-year contracts with 27 domestic manufacturers at the moment for a total of 171 billion drams. This figure tends to grow," noted Hayrapetyan in an interview with Armenian Public Television.
According to him, various types of weapons, control systems based on serious technological solutions, UAVs, shells and other types of weapons are being produced.
At the same time, the minister pointed out that the available human resources and military-technical achievements are extremely limited in ensuring the competitiveness of the Army.
"Innovative and technological solutions generated by scientific research come to the rescue. The military industry of Armenia has great potential, becoming one of the most important segments of the economy," said Hayrapetyan.
The Minister reported that 60 companies with approximately 2,500 specialists are registered in the register of the domestic military-industrial complex.
"A program for the development of the military industry is already in effect. We hope that in the near future we will also be able to develop a strategy; the relevant work has already begun," noted Hayrapetyan.
According to him, in the first eight months of 2024, as a result of the added value generated in the military industry of Armenia, taxes in the amount of 6 billion drams were paid, recording an increase of about 70% compared to January-August 2023 (3.5 billion drams). ($1 - 387.09 drams). -0-
