Syunik governor resigns

Vahe Hakobyan, governor of Armenia’s Syunik province, has resigned, the press office of the provincial administration reported on Friday.

YEREVAN, June 8. /ARKA/. Vahe Hakobyan, governor of Armenia’s Syunik province, has resigned, the press office of the provincial administration reported on Friday.
In his resignation request, Hakobyan said that he has resigned taking into account the new political situation.
He said he has implemented a number of important projects while in office.
In particular, he pointed out resumption of Kapan Airport’s operation that has already reached the final stage.
He also pointed out the Syunik Fund of Development and Investments that has been established on his initiative.
In his words, the fund has implemented social support, education, healthcare and urban planning projects of the total cost of AMD 500 million.
The modern production of Italian foods by using local raw materials has been launched as well. This allowed establishing trade ties with Iran, Ukraine and some other countries.
The former governor expressed confidence that his successor “will continue this patriotic activity and contribute to development of Syunik”.
”On my side, I assure my colleagues, with whom I have passed a short, but difficult and effective way, that I will stay in Syunik and will support them at any moment,” Hakobyan said.
Earlier, the government appointed new governors to Aragatsotn, Ararat, Kotayk, Tavush, Shirak, Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Lori provinces. ($1 – AMD 483.49). -0---
