YEREVAN, November 13. /ARKA/. The political phase of the EU visa liberalization negotiations for Armenia has been completed, and the technical phase has begun, stated Nelly Davtyan, Head of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As Davtyan stated, the vast majority of these 74 points are already being implemented; there are practically no points that Armenia must start from scratch (with the exception of a large-scale border management system).

"Everything is crystal clear: from now on, we have a 'roadmap,' that is, an action plan that we will distribute, localize, integrate, and distribute functions among government agencies according to their responsibilities," the Service Head stated.

As Davtyan stated, the vast majority of these 74 points are already being implemented; there are practically no points that Armenia must start from scratch (with the exception of a large-scale border management system).

"The Action Plan reflects our government's commitments; it doesn't include any items we are forced to implement. These include documentation issues, including biometrics (passports and ID cards), border management, including migration management and asylum provision, public order, including the fight against drugs and human trafficking, crime prevention, anti-corruption measures, and human rights protection," Davtyan said.

The head of the Service also addressed the expectations of citizens planning to leave for EU countries for permanent residence or work after visa liberalization.

"The overwhelming majority of our citizens' asylum applications are fake cases; that is, they simply invent stories to show that human rights are allegedly violated in Armenia and, naturally, are rejected," Davtyan said.

According to her, the current number of such refusals is approximately 4,500-5,200 per year. "We must not allow this figure to increase; on the contrary, we must contribute to its reduction, as this could lead to the cessation of the process." "Visa liberalization," she explained.

Davtyan clarified that the liberalization will only result in the abolition of Type C visas, meaning Armenian citizens will be able to legally reside in European countries for 90 days every six months.
