The United Kingdom intends to intensify business cooperation with Armenia and appointed Mark Pritchard as trade representative in Armenia, Alan Duncan, UK Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, told a joint press conference with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan, Armenia.

YEREVAN, September 28. /ARKA/. The United Kingdom intends to intensify business cooperation with Armenia and appointed Mark Pritchard as trade representative in Armenia, Alan Duncan, UK Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, told a joint press conference with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan, Armenia.

He said that over 25 years the countries have established good political relations, and there are prospects for further development.  

The British ambassador said his country wants to build up trade with Armenia.

“We have a number of approaches and perspectives. Firstly, we look to work with the authorities of Armenia to increase trade flows to the country: to improve the business climate, which can attract investors,” he said.

Alan Duncan also welcomed Armenia’s intention to join Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

He said that room for cooperation also in other areas is being considered now as well. 

“For this purpose, we have appointed a trade representative who will come to study the fields,” he said. 

Nalbandian, on his side, said that issues related to legal and contractual basis, cooperation in various areas and development of trade and economic relations have been discussed at the meeting. --0----
