Trump Route promises Armenia major investments, financial benefits, economic development - Pashinyan

YEREVAN, August 18. /ARKA/.The "Trump Route" initiative is set to bring significant investments, financial advantages, and economic growth to Armenia, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in his national address on Monday.

According to Pashinyan, the execution of this program will facilitate the passage of international railways, highways, pipelines, and power lines through Armenian territory.

"Following 35 years of blockade, Armenia will be unblocked as a result of the agreements made in Washington. This unblocking will adhere to the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and the inviolability of borders; it is under these principles that the roads between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be opened," Pashinyan remarked.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this entails the need to first clarify, delimit, and demarcate the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the context of restoring and constructing communications, as the border already possesses its essential attributes, including border guards and a customs point.

He assured that this should not raise concerns for Armenia, given that the principle of reciprocity is established in the Washington Declaration.

"This serves as a guarantee that balanced and mutually acceptable solutions will be reached with Azerbaijan," Pashinyan added.

The seven-point declaration, which was signed after the trilateral meeting involving Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 8 in Washington, encompasses the initialing of the 'Agreement on Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan', a joint request to the OSCE for the dissolution of the Minsk Group mechanisms, and the unblocking of regional communications based on the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and jurisdiction of the nations, as well as reciprocity.-0-
