Turkey considers Armenia's approach to opening communications in the South Caucasus constructive – Deputy Minister

YEREVAN, June 26. /ARKA/. Armenia's position on unblocking regional communications in the South Caucasus is viewed constructively by Turkey, said Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan.
“During the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul, issues related to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and transport communications were discussed,” Kostanyan said at a press briefing on Thursday.
According to Kostanyan, during the meeting it was noted that the opening of regional communications is of great importance for Armenia and Turkey.
"It is no secret that Turkey is seeking to improve its ties with Central Asia. For Armenia, as a landlocked country, open borders are a vital necessity. Recent events have also shown that almost 3, if not 3.5, of our borders have been closed due to events taking place around Iran," Kostanyan emphasized.
He also reported that during the meeting in Istanbul, the Armenian prime minister presented the Turkish president with the “Crossroads of Peace” project.
“In essence, there is a common understanding that Armenia is taking a constructive approach to the issue of opening communications with its proposals. Armenia's vision is assessed by our Turkish partners as constructive,” the deputy minister noted. -0-
