YEREVAN, January 27. /ARKA/. The main objective of Turkey's foreign policy is to try to rise to the level of the countries, which shape the agenda of world politics, Ruben Safrastyan, ex-director of the Armenian Institute of Oriental Studies, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

He said that Erdogan's government is pursuing a pan-Turkic, pan-Islamic and neo-Ottoman foreign policy, which are the basis of Turkey's current policy.

According to Safrastyan, Turkey seeks to raise its "weight category" in many cases with incomprehensible aggression. Safrastyan described this as a fairly rational goal, but Turkey has weak foundations, since its economy, resources, and prestige in the world do not yet allow it to climb at least one step up.

Safrastyan said that Turkey does not own the technologies of the modern world that the West has.

"The current policy of Turkey, which wants to improve the country's image is aimed at getting certain technologies from the West. The simplest example related to drones Bayraktar: Turkey, in fact, cannot independently produce them without Western technology," he said.

Safrastyan said that yielding in terms of technology, Turkey in recent years has been trying to compensate for this deficiency on its own: a military production system is being created based on its own technologies. According to Safrastyan, this task has acquired great importance for Erdogan's government. -0-
