YEREVAN, October 3. /ARKA/. The U.S. Embassy in Armenia has announced the arrival of a team from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

"From September 29 to October 11, a team from U.S. Customs and Border Protection will collaborate with the Armenian Border Service to perform a capabilities assessment and pinpoint areas for enhancement through the Gap and Opportunity Analysis Process," the statement indicated.

The diplomatic mission clarified that this analytical approach, which has proven effective in other contexts, will aid in bolstering border security by identifying sectors that necessitate strategic investment.

"We take pride in supporting this initial phase of the Crossroads of Peace Capability Partnership, which was formalized by the memorandum of understanding signed by President Trump and Prime Minister Pashinyan at the White House on August 8," the statement added.

About the Memorandum

One of three memoranda of understanding signed between Armenia and the United States on August 8 in Washington pertains to a partnership aimed at enhancing capacity for the Crossroads of the World project. This initiative seeks to collaborate on improving Armenia's infrastructure and border security, including through investments, resources, training, and partnerships between the two nations.

Cooperation is anticipated in the following domains: fortifying Armenia's border security through training, U.S. government resources, and best practices from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection; boosting investment in cyber defense operations; and facilitating investments in modernizing Armenia's infrastructure, particularly in border security.-0-
