Vahram Grigoryan appointed commander of second army corps

YEREVAN, August 9. /ARKA/. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian signed a decree on Monday appointing Vahram Grigoryan as commander of the second army corps of the Armenian armed forces.
By another decree, Arayik Harutyunyan was relieved as commander of the second army corps and appointed as head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the general staff of the armed forces. He is also Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
Arakel Martirosyan was relieved of his post as head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff. Arayik Harutyunyan was among those top army brass who had signed a statement of the General Staff in February 2021, demanding the resignation of the government and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
On August 5, Alexander Tsakanyan was appointed as commander of the third army corps. He replaced Grigory Khachaturov, who was dismissed from this post July 8, 2021. Grigory Khachaturov was also among dozens of high-ranking army officers who signed the statement, demanding the resignation of the government and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. -0-
