YEREVAN, December 9. /ARKA/. Armenia needs public cohesion, Vigen Sargsyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia who is topping the party’s list in the snap parliamentary elections, told journalists on Sunday after visiting his polling station.
“I voted for an Armenia where nobody will conceive the idea of dividing people into black and white, since this is a direct way for formation of an enemy from within,” he said.
Sargsyan again made the allusion to the state of war saying that such a situation is unacceptable in such circumstances.
In his opinion, it is necessary to create a stronger and economically developed country able to resist numerous challenges.
The party man said that the Armenian Republicans did not rely on administrative resources this time and run the election campaign how they could.
In his words, he and his fellow partisans and their proxies have undergone pressing.
In his opinion, the elections were premature and they have been organized in a hurry and “this contributed nothing to strengthening of democratic processes”.
Polling stations all over Armenia opened today at 8:00 AM local time for early parliamentary elections.
Nine political parties and two blocs are racing for seats in the National Assembly.
In total, 1,444 candidates are included in their party lists, and 12 of them are representatives of ethnic minorities. -0---
