White House summit is a turning point in Yerevan-Baku normalization and an important milestone in dialogue with Ankara-Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister

YEREVAN, August 11. /ARКА/. The trilateral summit in the White House is a turning point in the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as an important milestone for normalization with Turkey, stated Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan in an interview with the Turkish Anadolu news agency.
“We have recorded an important milestone not only in the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, but also in strengthening the strategic partnership between Armenia and the United States,” Kostanyan said.
According to him, the discussions, both in the bilateral format with the United States and in the trilateral format with Washington and Baku, were very important, “even historic.”
He recalled that three key memorandums of understanding were signed between Armenia and the United States on capacity building within the framework of the Armenian Crossroads of Peace project, cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and semiconductors, as well as energy.
Speaking about the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, the Deputy Minister positively assessed the previous statements of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to conclude a peace treaty, noting that this would have a "positive" impact on the normalization talks.
"The event became an important milestone and an opportunity that we can implement with Turkey as well. This project can be implemented and acquire much greater regional and global significance if transport links between Armenia and Turkey are also restored," Kostanyan noted.
He expressed hope that Ankara will respond to the goodwill of the Armenian government by opening the Armenian-Turkish border and establishing diplomatic relations.
Regarding the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP)", Kostanyan said that the declaration envisages the opening of regional transport and communication routes within the framework of the sovereignty, jurisdiction and territorial integrity of the states through which they will pass.
He explained that the project will be implemented by the Republic of Armenia and the United States on the territory of Armenia, which will allow establishing regional communications, including establishing a connection from the southern part of Armenia through Nakhichevan to other regions of the country.
Kostanyan noted that although the main principles have already been agreed upon, technical and working discussions on the details of the project implementation are ahead.-0-
