Without synchronized launch of communications, regional infrastructure will not be fully operational: Grigoryan on TRIPP project

YEREVAN, October 27. /ARKA/. The infrastructure in the region must be unblocked at the same time; otherwise, communications will not operate effectively, stated Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan in a commentary regarding the progress of the TRIPP project.

"The type, form, and content of the infrastructure are being thoroughly discussed. This encompasses all forms of communications: energy, roads, and railways. The railway (through Armenian Syunik region) spans a length of 42-43 km. The remaining infrastructure still necessitates technical evaluation and business planning," Grigoryan mentioned in an interview with Radio Azatutyun.

He noted that the railway route has already been established and is not open to modification, as it involves the restoration of a railway from the Soviet era. The other transit infrastructure did not exist during the Soviet period and must be developed from the ground up.

"Since 2020-2021, we have been deliberating on this segment of railway infrastructure, including the stretch from Armenian Yeraskh to Azerbaijani Nakhichevan," Grigoryan remarked.

In response to a question regarding whether the American side would also invest in the Yeraskh section, he stated, "It is evident to all parties that the infrastructure will be significantly more advantageous if the Yeraskh section is incorporated. According to the agreements, we are discussing regional infrastructure integration. This implies that all potential communications must become a reality," Grigoryan affirmed.

He confirmed ongoing discussions with the Azerbaijani side on numerous issues.

"When we commence planning the construction of the infrastructure to unblock the railway and specific crossing points are identified, these points must, of course, be at least delineated. There is no alternative," Grigoryan concluded.

The declaration signed in Washington on August 8 by the leaders of Armenia, the United States, and Azerbaijan formalized an agreement to execute the regional project 'Trump Route for International International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP).-0-
