Working group of investigation of violations related to parliamentary elections established in general Prosecutors office of Armenia

A special working group is created in General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia for investigation of all violations related to the upcoming elections in National Assembly of Armenia on May 6, said General Prosecutor of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan on Friday to the journalists.

YEREVAN, March 23. /ARKA/. A special working group is created in General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia for investigation of all violations related to the upcoming elections in National Assembly of Armenia on May 6, said General Prosecutor of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepyan on Friday to the journalists.
“For the provision of efficiency of the working group we have the experience accumulated in the past years. Some years ago with the support of U.S. Embassy in Armenia six Armenian prosecutors participated in the raining courses in the U.S., where particularly the actions of law enforcement bodies on the prevention of violations in the elections were studied”, said Hovsepyan during the
conference “For free and transparent elections”.
He said that the head of the working group will be one of deputies of General Prosecutor. A special office of calculation of all the applications and reports has been also established.
“We will do everything for the prevention of violations. Each application, report or complaint, including reports in mass media will be reviewed and investigated”, said Hovsepyan.
The conference “For free and transparent elections” is organized by International Center of Human Development by the initiative of General Prosecutor’s Office and with the support of U.S. Embassy in Armenia.
“Law enforcement system in Armenia plays a key role in the provision of legality in the elections.. Guarantees of efficiency of the struggle against crime are their prevention measures, and this conference is important in this context”, said Hovsepyan in the opening ceremony of the conference.
Eight political parties and one pre-election block (opposition party Armenian National Congress) submitted their proportional lists for participation in the parliamentary elections on My 6. Among the parties of three coalition forces are the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, “Prosperous Armenia” and “Orinats yerkir”, as well as Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Dashnaktsutyun”, “Heritage”, (united list with the party “Free democrats”), Democratic Party of Armenia, Communist Party of Armenia and the party “United Armenians”.
In the elections by majoritarian system wished to participate 180 candidates. -0-
