YEREVAN, March 19. /ARKA/. The Armenian MFA responded to the statement of the representative of the Azerbaijani MFA, who accused Armenia of putting forward complex and practically impossible initiatives.

The statement of the Armenian Prime Minister's Office dated March 18, in particular, noted that the agreed text of the draft peace treaty touches upon the fundamental issues of establishing peace and relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and provides mechanisms for discussing further actions. The Armenian side calls on Azerbaijan to begin consultations on the place and timing of signing the agreement.

" Armenia and Azerbaijan have officially announced the finalization of the draft agreement “On Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations” and the conclusion of the negotiations around finalizing the draft. Logically, the agreed-upon document must be signed, and the Republic of Armenia proposes to launch consultations about the venue and timeframes for signing it. Clearly the proposed process is neither difficult nor unfulfillable," said the statement of the press secretary of the Armenian MFA Ani Badalyan.

On the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan

On March 13, the Armenian Foreign Ministry confirmed the fact that the draft Treaty "On the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan" had been agreed upon and that negotiations on its approval had been completed. The ministry stated that the document was ready for signing and that Yerevan was ready to begin consultations with Baku on the timing and place of its signing.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on March 13 that the current content of the draft peace treaty with Azerbaijan could be considered an option for mutual concessions that was acceptable to Armenia. According to him, the two points of the draft treaty, on which the parties could not reach an agreement for some time and on which they reached a compromise, concern the non-deployment of third-country forces along the entire length of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, as well as the mutual withdrawal of claims filed against each other in international courts and the non-implementation of actions against each other. The President of Azerbaijan had previously pointed out these two disagreements.
