Yerevan and Hanoi to step up legal framework and collaboration in international organizations

Edward Nalbandyan and Phan Binh Minh, Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Vietnam, discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international problems at the meeting in Hanoi, the press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.

YEREVAN, February 27. /ARKA/. Edward Nalbandyan and Phan Binh Minh, Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Vietnam, discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation as well as regional and international problems at the meeting in Hanoi, the press service of Armenian Foreign Ministry reports.
“At the meeting the officials reached an agreement on expanding the legal framework and preparing to sign cooperation accords between the two Foreign Ministries, in trade and economic as well as cultural sectors, and visa facilitation measures,” the press release says.
Nalbandyan and his counterpart also agreed to step up bilateral collaboration and support in international organizations, and undertake actions aimed at tourism development.
Armenian FM presented the principal priorities of Armenian foreign policy, peace building and security measures in the region, the current process of Karabakh crisis settlement.
In this context, Binh Minh highlighted the importance of finding a peaceful settlement for the crisis, based on the principles of International law. Vietnamese FM informed Nalbandyan on the various processes going on in the Asian region and Vietnam’s position. The two officials also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East.
Speaking on Armenian-Vietnamese relations, Nalbandyan said that two states and nations are closely tied with each other highlighting thousands of Vietnamese who received their education in Armenia during the times of the Soviet Union, as well as Armenians, who worked in Vietnam. The ministers noted that the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries should give new impetus to the bilateral cooperation. During his visit to Vietnam Nalbandyan also visited Diplomatic Academy, founded in 1959, where he made a speech in front of the students, reporting on Armenian foreign policy and Armenian-Vietnamese relations.—0--
