YEREVAN, March 1. /ARKA/. Official Yerevan welcomes the resumption of Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, Vladimir Vardanyan, head of the parliament committee on state and legal affairs from the ruling Civil Contract party said on Friday.

‘This is extremely important in terms of the development of further processes," Vardanyan said at a press briefing in parliament.

In his turn, Secretary of the Civil Contract faction Artur Hovhannisyan said that the Armenian side will consider effective only those platforms (for signing peace treaty) which will ensure respect and protection of normalization principles agreed by the parties last year.

In late February, two-day talks between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhnun Bayramov were held in Berlin with the mediation of Germany.

On January 13, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated that peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as border demarcation and delimitation, should be based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration, which recognized the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan within their boundaries when they were constituent Soviet republics. -0-
