Zakharova comments on Pashinyan's proposal for Russia to monitor security of regional routes through Armenia
YEREVAN, October 17. /ARКА/. The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's proposal to assign Russia the responsibility of monitoring the security of regional routes passing through Armenia.
‘’We are guided by the agreements reached at the highest level within the trilateral framework," said Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, during a press briefing on Wednesday.
She noted that significant work has been carried out by the trilateral working group, established by the leaders' decision and co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
"The main parameters for unblocking railway traffic have been agreed upon, including transit between Azerbaijan's mainland and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through Armenia's Syunik region," Zakharova noted.
She emphasized that it would be appropriate to resolve the remaining issues and differing interpretations within the same framework in which they were initially discussed.
“We see no alternative to this approach and will continue working in this direction”, Zakharova stated.
