YEREVAN, October 8. /ARKA/. Francophonie – is an important instrument for boosting French language in Armenia and displaying solidarity and cultural diversity, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said Sunday at a ministerial conference of the Francophonie.

On October 7, Francophonie Week kicked off in Yerevan, which will last until October 12.

The Permanent Council of the Francophonie held yesterday in Yerevan its session, which was attended by the organization member countries’ ambassadors, and on Monday, a two-day ministerial conference was launched.

“This is an important platform for economic, educational and cultural cooperation,” Mnatsakanyan said.

“This is a chance for Armenia to get a more comprehensive grasp of peaceful coexistence and human values, and this is very important for stability and international relations.”

The minister said that the Francophonie summit’s slogan “Live Together” is addressed not only the countries’ governments, but also their societies, since the summit is focused on ordinary people.

”Our country is passing an important stage of strengthening democratic values,” he said.

After his speech, Mnatsakanyan called on the session participants to pause to remember Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, who died on September 21 of a serious illness.

The Francophonie Summit, the key event of the Francophonie Week, will take place on October 11 and 12. The official ceremony will be broadcasted in Armenian and French.

On October 11, a concert will be held at the Republic Square in Yerevan.

The concert’s final part will be dedicated to legendary singer and composer Charles Aznavour, who died last Monday in France. -0---
