Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the congress Professor Ara Babloyan said that the goal of the congress is effective exchange of experience, improvement of knowledge and the quality of medical services rendered to the population.
YEREVAN, June 28. /ARKA/. The 2nd international medical congress has been opened in Yerevan.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the congress, Head of the Standing Commission for Health, Environment and Social Affairs, RA Parliament, Professor Ara Babloyan said that the goal of the congress is effective exchange of experience, improvement of knowledge and the quality of medical services rendered to the population.
“Medicine has no frontiers and must serve everybody. Armenia is only developing and needs support, including support to its medical sector, ands this forum will be a good means of adopting the wide experience of the Armenian doctors from the Diaspora,” Babloyan said.
He stressed that the congress program envisages ten satellite symposiums: Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Osteoporosis, Nursery, Public Health, Invasive Cardiology, Diabetic Studies, Medical Specialists for Armenia Free of Cigarettes.
According to Babloyan, some 21,500 specialists from various countries will take part in the symposiums. A space bridge with John Messina, Professor of the “San Joseph” children hospital, New Jersey, USA, will be organized. “The congress for the first time affords the opportunity of participation not only to narrow specialists, but also ordinary doctors and nurses from Armenia and the NKR,” Babloyan said.
He also reported that the “Bridge Building” partnership program is to be launched during the congress. The goal of the program is to promote professional development and cooperation with foreign medical specialists participating in the forum.
On the last day the congress will discuss programs of cooperation with the Armenian Diaspora. The participants will hold a special meeting “Armenian-Diaspora: strategy of further development”.
“This congress will be a good means of gaining modern knowledge, acquiring information on international achievements in the medical sphere and effective exchange of experience,” Babloyan said.
Among over 2,000 prospective the participants in the congress are specialists from Armenia, the NKR, Russia, the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, France, Iran, Lebanon, Romania, Australia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium and Argentina.
The 1st international medical congress was held in 2003.
Regular medical congresses have been held outside Armenia since 1974 on the initiative of the Armenian Medical International Committee (AMIC). The last, 9th, congress of Armenian doctors was held in San Francisco, USA, in 2005. P.T. --0-
