15 Armenian citizens to study in USA under Edmund S. Muskie graduate fellowship program in 2008

Fifteen Armenian citizens will have an opportunity to improve their professional qualifications in USA under Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program next year.

YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. Fifteen Armenian citizens will have an opportunity to improve their professional qualifications in USA under Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program next year, the responsible on the program at IREX (International Research & Exchanges Board) Zhanna Khachatrian said Tuesday.

Last year, of 300 applicants from Armenia 16 students left for USA to improve their education under the program, she said at the seminar for applicants Tuesday.

According to Khachatrian, 170 applicants from all over Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will have the opportunity to study in USA under the program.

This year the program started on October 17 and the deadline for applications is November 16. The competition will be held in three stages and the final result is to be announced in May 2008, Khachatrian said. The program is financed by the U.S. Government. The program provides three kinds of scholarships – for one-year master degree studies, for two-year master degree course and for one-year course with a certificate to be awarded on completion.

Edmund S. Muskie Graduate Fellowship Program was established by the U.S. Congress in 1992 and is aimed at promoting economic and democratic growth in Eurasian countries. The fields of the studies are business administration, economy, education, international relations, journalism, public administration, public health. –0--
