Russian ambassador to Armenia appreciates standard of Year of Russian in Armenia

he Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Nikolay Pavlov highly appreciated the standard of events held in the scope of the Year of Russian Language in Armenia.
YEREVAN, December 20. /ARKA/. The Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Nikolay Pavlov highly appreciated the standard of events held in the scope of the Year of Russian Language in Armenia.
"Actions in support of the Russian language under the Year’s program were held at a high level in friendly Armenia, with involvement of wide public circles," Pavlov said at the opening of scientific and methodical conference ‘’Russian Language: Theoretical and Practical Aspects’’ in the Yerevan State Linguistic University.
Pavlov reminded that several Armenian experts of Russian were awarded state award of Russia – Pushkin Medal, representatives of Armenia participated in the first Assembly of Russian world and Armenian schoolchildren had success in international Olympiads of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and Baltic countries in Moscow and Sankt-Petersburg.
Among the events were festivals ‘’We speak, read and sing Russian’’ and ‘’Dialogue of Cultures’’, festivities and numerous conferences and seminars.
The diplomat also reported opening of courses on modern Russian language in the Roszarubejtsentr office in Armenia in the near future.
Pavlov said that among the upcoming projects are a distant learning project, creation of International Institute of languages of CIS countries and opening of a network of specialized schools on Russian in Europe.
About 50 reports are to be made during the international conference ‘’Russian Language: Theoretical and Practical Aspects’’ in the Yerevan State Linguistic University. Among the reporters are linguists of Armenia’s universities, as well as specialists from Linguistic Research Institute of Sankt-Petersburg, the Russia’s State Institute of Russian Language after Pushkin and the Eurasian National University after Gumilev (Kazakhstan). –0--
