YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. A celebratory event was held in the central part of Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan: a street was named after Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet.
As reported by Armenpress from Kazakhstan, the ceremony was attended by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.
Last year, during Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's visit to Armenia, it was noted that negotiations were underway to name a street in Astana after Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet, and a park in Yerevan after Kazakh poet and founder of Kazakh literature Abay Kunanbayev, based on the principle of reciprocity.
In April of this year, by decision of the Yerevan Council of Elders, a park in the Avan administrative district was named in honor of the founder of Kazakh literature, Abai Kunanbayev.
