YEREVAN, May 19. /ARKA/. Armenia's Weather Service said today abnormal heat is expected across the country on May 21 and 22.

It said the hot air currents from the Arabian Peninsula will reach Armenia later today and as a result the temperatures will go up by 5-7 degrees, reaching record highs on Friday.

In particular, in the Ararat Valley and in Yerevan, the highest ever temperature in May was recorded in the second decade of the month in 1999 and in 2020 when thermometers showed 35.1-35.3 degrees Celsius.

According to forecasts, the air temperature in these areas on this May 21 will rise to 36-37 degrees. 

On these days, throughout the country, the air temperature will be 8-10 degrees higher than the climatic norm.

The heat will begin to subside from May 23rd, accompanied by short thunderstorms. -0-
