All military personnel relevant to the death of private Vahram Avakyan were punished

All military personnel, who were relevant to the death of private Vahram Avakyan in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) on January 30 were punished by the decision of the Artsakh defense minister, Armenian Minister of Defense David Tonoyan told a Q&A parliamentary session today.

All military personnel, who were relevant to the death of private Vahram Avakyan in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) on January 30 were punished by the decision of the Artsakh defense minister, Armenian Minister of Defense David Tonoyan told a Q&A parliamentary session today.
"I mean those servicemen who are directly related to the death of Avakyan. They are detained as part of the criminal case. When the investigation is over, they will be held accountable in accordance with the extent of their involvement in the death of the soldier," Tonoyan said.
According to Armenia's Investigative Committee , the 20-year-old conscript Vahram Avakyan killed himself by shooting himself in the chest from the AKM. A criminal case was first initiated under a Criminal Code article on driving someone to suicide, but later the case was re-qualified under another article involving hazing.
Earlier reports said a serviceman David Movsisyan (son of ex-member of the Armenian parliament Arakel Movsisyan), Khachik Gasparyan and Spartak Avetisyan - were charged with violation of the statutory rules of relations between military personnel, entailing grave consequences. A relevant Criminal Code article provides for imprisonment of 4 to 8 years.
On February 6, the Artsakh Ministry of Defense reported that as a result of the internal investigation, several senior officers of the military unit where Avakyan served were sacked, including the deputy commander of the military unit. The commander of the military unit and his deputies were severely disciplined; a number of officials were demoted. --0—
