Ameriabank and Matenadaran sign memorandum of cooperation as part of ‘Return of Manuscripts” program
YEREVAN, February 8. /ARKA/. Ameriabank and Matenadaran have signed a memorandum of cooperation within the framework of “Return of Manuscripts” program.
With the signing of the Memorandum, Ameriabank has become the first private organization in Armenia to join the mission of collecting Armenian manuscripts.
This cooperation is a follow-up to Ameriabank's large-scale project “My Ameria, My Armenia”, and on the other hand, it is a new beginning by which the Bank confirms its responsibility, respect and care for Armenia and Armenian heritage.
The establishment of the fund by the Bank enables Matenadaran to acquire valuable Armenian manuscripts that appear at auctions around the world or are sold by private individuals, in order to make them available, preserve them in Armenia, popularize them and introduce them into the scientific circulation. Thanks to Ameriabank's funding, Matenadaran has already obtained 2 manuscripts and 10 miniatures of serious historical, cultural and scientific value.
Within the framework of the “Return of Manuscripts” program, Matenadaran and Ameriabank will continue this important cooperation, hoping that it will inspire and unite many people around the preservation of the identity, heritage and values of the Armenian nation.
As part of this initiative, starting February 20, Ameriabank will grant “Premium” status to anyone who donates at least AMD 4 million to Matenadaran and “Partner” status to those who donate at least AMD 20 million to acquire manuscripts or other items of historical and cultural value. Matenadaran will also provide them with a number of benefits.

The Mesrop Mashtots Matenadaran Museum-Institute of Ancient Manuscripts is a research institution with a unique and valuable collection of manuscripts. Today Matenadaran holds about 23,000 manuscripts (in Armenian and other languages), more than 500,000 exclusive and especially valuable archival documents, as well as ancient books covering almost all fields of ancient and medieval Armenian science and culture: history, geography, grammar, philosophy, law, medicine, mathematics, cosmology, art, etc.
