An attempt to smuggle 1.5 kg of various narcotics from Georgia intercepted in Armenia – SRC
YEREVAN, August 19. /ARКА/. The Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC) announced that, acting on a tip-off, its personnel, in collaboration with the National Security Services, successfully thwarted an effort to smuggle various drugs.
It was reported that an Armenian national intended to bring various drugs into the country through the Bagratashen checkpoint. This individual was placed under surveillance. A few days later, he arrived at the border checkpoint in a vehicle.
SRC officers, along with customs officials at the land checkpoint, conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle, uncovering approximately 900 tablets of the drug "buprenorphine," 340 grams of cocaine, and 50 grams of hashish hidden in a concealed compartment.
Furthermore, it was discovered that, in addition to the aforementioned individual, Georgian nationals were also traveling to Armenia in this vehicle. Two Armenian citizens and two Georgian citizens were detained on suspicion of drug smuggling and were subsequently taken to the relevant department of the Investigative Committee.-0-
