Armenia and Israel agree to deepen long-term cooperation in education

YEREVAN, February 2. /ARKA/. Armenia and Israel have agreed to deepen long-term cooperation in education. This was announced at a meeting between Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and her Israeli counterpart, Yoav Kisch.
Andreasyan is on a working visit to Israel to participate in the "EducAItion 2026" conference, dedicated to developing personalized education policies in the age of AI.
"Armenia views deepening cooperation with Israel in education as a priority. There is complementary potential between the countries and ample opportunities for developing cooperation, particularly in innovative and technological education," Andreasyan noted.
Educational Reforms and AI
She presented Kisch with the educational reforms underway in Armenia, including the introduction of AI training in high schools. Since 2023, the country has been implementing a multi-level educational program, "Generation AI," aimed at shaping the educational trajectory of AI specialists, from school to postgraduate level. The STEP.ai program was also highlighted as a successful example of integrating AI into the educational system.
Cooperation Areas
Andreasyan and Kisch discussed opportunities for cooperation in curriculum development, teacher training and retraining, STEM education, digital literacy, and the implementation of innovative teaching methods. They also touched on the development of technological and vocational education, the launch of joint programs in information technology, engineering, and digital skills, and the exchange of specialists.
Andreasyan emphasized that technological education is becoming one of Armenia's calling cards, presenting the country's experience in informal education and the operating model of the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.
Higher Education and Science
The discussion also touched on issues of research collaboration, academic exchanges, the development of inter-university ties, and higher education reforms.
In this context, Andreasyan presented the new law "On Higher Education and Science" and the Academic City project, noting the importance of internationalizing the educational system and attracting foreign partners.-0-
