Armenia has introduced "Parental Hour": who can use it and how
YEREVAN, July 10. /ARKA/. Regulations on "Parental Hour" came into force in Armenia on July 10, the RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported.

According to the new rules, working parents, as well as foster parents, adoptive parents, and guardians, may be temporarily absent from work to care for and raise a child, participate in the educational process, and address other issues related to the child's interests.

The Ministry of Social Affairs reported that "Parental Hour" is granted as follows:

• Parents of one or two children under 12 years of age — up to 30 minutes per day;
• Parents of three or more children under 12 years of age — up to one hour per day;
• Parents of a child under 18 with severe or profound functional limitations — up to one hour per day, regardless of the number of children.

Parental leave is granted upon the employee's written request, and the employer has no right to refuse it.

During the parental leave period, the employee retains their base salary, or, if paid on a piecework basis, their average salary excluding bonuses.
