YEREVAN, December 2. /ARKA/. The main New Year tree of Armenia has already been installed in Republic Square in the center of Yerevan.

"The ceremony to light the Christmas tree will take place on December 8, and the event will begin at 20:00," Yerevan Vice Mayor Suren Grigoryan said on Monday. He urged citizens wishing to participate in the event to arrive at the venue 20 minutes before the scheduled time.

Speaking about preparations for the New Year, Grigoryan stated that various areas of the city have already been festively decorated

According to him, a traditional Christmas market is planned to be held on Republic Square, and colorful pavilions have already been installed.

"Various programs will be held during the fair, and their dates will be announced soon," Grigoryan said.

Earlier, the city administration reported that 549.7 million drams (about $1.4 million) are planned to be spent on New Year's decorations in Yerevan this year.-0-
