Armenia to Eliminate Age Limits for IVF

The Standing Committee on Healthcare of the National Assembly of Armenia has approved amendments to the Law on Reproductive Health and Human Reproductive Rights.

YEREVAN, October 15. /ARKA/. The Standing Committee on Healthcare of the National Assembly of Armenia has approved amendments to the Law on Reproductive Health and Human Reproductive Rights.
"The Constitutional Court of Armenia has ruled that the provisions of the law concerning age restrictions for the application of assisted reproductive technologies are unconstitutional. Consequently, it is essential to amend the law," stated Deputy Minister of Health Armen Gasparyan during a committee session.
He noted that the previous maximum age limit for utilizing assisted reproductive technologies was 55 years for those using a surrogate mother and 53 years for women intending to carry the child themselves.-0-
