YEREVAN, October 30. /ARKA/. The Armenian government plans to increase the lump-sum benefit paid at the birth of a first and second child to 500,000 drams, up from the current 300,000 drams, announced Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Arsen Torosyan.

"Furthermore, a draft law will likely be submitted to the National Assembly proposing the introduction of a support program providing for a permanent allowance of 50,000 drams for the third child and subsequent children until they reach the age of 6," Torosyan noted on Thursday during a parliamentary discussion of the 2026 draft annual budget.

The minister explained that experience shows that the option of periodic monthly assistance for children in large families is more effective than large one-time payments.

Currently, a one-time payment of 300,000 drams is paid for the birth of a first and second child in Armenia, 1 million drams for the third and fourth, and 1.5 million drams for the fifth and subsequent children ($1 = 382.72 drams).-0-
