Armenia and ILO sign 'Decent Work' national program

Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan and Heinz Koller, Director of the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia of the International Labor Organization (ILO), signed today in Yerevan Armenia’s National Program “Decent Work.”

YEREVAN, May 14. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan and Heinz Koller, Director of the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia of the International Labor Organization (ILO), signed today in Yerevan Armenia’s National Program “Decent Work.”
The minister said after the signing ceremony that the National Program for 2019-2023 outlines the priorities and the results that are to be achieved. She said with this program, the Armenian government confirms its commitment to ILO conventions and international principles.
According to Batoyan, the National Program is aimed at ensuring steady employment and social protection of workers.
"The program provides for legislative changes, which will also improve employment policies and ensure gender equality and the involvement of different groups in this process," the minister said.
Batoyan also noted that this program will give new impetus to the implementation of the principles of the new government to secure necessary conditions for a decent life.
In turn. Koller noted that the program takes into account three ILO priorities: labor rights, employment and social dialogue. He said the ILO is ready to assist Armenia in the development and implementation of legislative changes. -0-
