Armenia authorities clear Governor’s son of murder charges

Armenian prosecutors have dropped charges against ex-governor of Syunik, Surik Khachatryan’s son Tigran, and his bodyguard Zarzand Nikoghosyan, accused of murder and causing life-threatening injuries. Both have been cleared of all charges, after the authorities defined their actions as self-defense.

YEREVAN, September 9. / ARKA /. Armenian prosecutors have dropped charges against ex-governor of Syunik, Surik Khachatryan’s son Tigran, and his bodyguard Zarzand Nikoghosyan, accused of murder and causing life-threatening injuries.
Both have been cleared of all charges, after the authorities defined their actions as self-defense. The two men were arrested last June, after a deadly shootout near the governor’s house, resulting in the death of an ex-candidate for Goris’s mayor Avetik Budaghyan. The latter’s brother, Colonel Artak Budaghayn (commander of a military unit) was wounded. -0-
