Armenia buys another batch of Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccines
YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/. Armenia's Health Ministry said today it has imported another batch of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccines.
According to the ministry, the batch is for vaccinating 14 thousand people. 'In order to stabilize the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 in the country, the ministry is set to acquire new batches of vaccines,' it said.
Armenia had already bought 24,000 AstraZeneca vaccine shots from COVAX Facility, a global vaccine-sharing scheme of the World Health Organization and 15,000 doses of Sputnik V.
Armenia started on March 13 vaccinating some segments of the population against COVID-19. The first in the row are seniors and people suffering from chronic illnesses.
Those of them who are aged 55 and older will receive the British-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccines. People who are 65 and older will be inoculated by the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. As of April 27, more than 4,000 people have died in Armenia from Covid-19.-0-
