Armenia ranked 23rd in global ranking of rising food costs

YEREVAN, August 15. /ARKA/. Picodi.com, an international e-commerce company providing discount coupons for online stores, ranked Armenia 23rd in the list of countries where the prices of fruits and vegetables rose the most over the past six months.

Analysts at Picodi.com compared the cost of fruits and vegetables in January 2022 with prices in July 2022 in 94 countries. The following products were chosen for comparison: potatoes, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, oranges, bananas and apples.

According to the study, the price increase in Armenia was 10.9%, with tomatoes rising the most - 28.4%. The total cost of all products in the list in Armenia was 3,130 drams in January, while in July it rose by 10.9% to 3,455 drams.

According to the National Statistical Committee of Armenia, the prices of food and non-alcoholic drinks rose by 13.5% in July 2022 compared to July 2021. Lentils, pasta, buckwheat, cheese, bread and beef rose the most. At the same time, vegetables and eggs became a little cheaper. --0--
