Armenia to increase expenditures on development of transport infrastructure by 37 billion drams

The Armenian government will allocate additionally 37 billion drams to finance the improvement and development of the transport infrastructure in 2023, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Minister Gnel Sanosyan said today, presenting his ministry's draft budget for 2024.

YEREVAN, July 26. /ARKA/. The Armenian government will allocate additionally 37 billion drams to finance the improvement and development of the transport infrastructure in 2023, Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Minister Gnel Sanosyan said today, presenting his ministry's draft budget for 2024.

He said the overall 2023 budget for this purpose will grow from 116 billion drams to 153 billion drams.

The minister specified that part of the money will be spent on repair of roads. Another part will be spent on the restoration of bridges and their supports, which are damaged by heavy trucks and maintenance of other bridges. The 2023 budget also includes the repair of Dilijan and Pushkin tunnels.

The minister noted that a tender has already been held and winners have been chosen. The tunnels will be closed during the repair, he said. Motorists will have to use the road bypassing the Dilijan tunnel through Semyonovka village, which will be brought into proper condition.

Besides, 295 million drams will be allocated for subsidizing the railway transport and 1.6 billion drams will be allocated to the aviation sector, to help some air companies get out of the EU "black list". ($1 - 386.74 drams) -0-
