YEREVAN, August 7. /ARKA/. Armenia's  Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired a meeting on Friday that discussed ways of delivering humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.

"At the moment, three flights are planned. All three will be with humanitarian aid - medicines, food," the government's press service quoted  the prime minister as saying.

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan reported that the departure of the first plane is scheduled for Saturday evening with medicines on board.

He said the next flight is planned for August 11 and the third one will be made within the next week as well.
'Now the process of collecting the cargo is underway. I think that the first plane will deliver a cargo of 12 tons to Lebanon," he explained.

Representatives of the Armenian government, the National Assembly, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund will visit Lebanon to look into the situation on the spot and to clarify other needs during meetings with representatives of the Lebanese government and the local Armenian community.

A powerful explosion occurred on Tuesday evening in the port of Beirut. According to local authorities, the explosion was caused by the detonation of 2.7 thousand tons of ammonium nitrate confiscated by customs in 2015, which were stored in the warehouse.

Mourning has been declared in the country. In the city, recognized as a disaster zone, a state of emergency was introduced for two weeks. According to the latest data, about 150 people became victims of the explosion, about 5 thousand were injured, and dozens of them are missing. -0-
