Armenia will spend the UN Green Climate Fund’s financial resources on developing advanced technologies, said Aramais Grigoryan, Armenian nature protection minister.

YEREVAN, March 9. /ARKA/. Armenia will spend the UN Green Climate Fund’s financial resources on developing advanced technologies, said Aramais Grigoryan, Armenian nature protection minister.
Speaking Friday in Yerevan at a session of the commission set up for implementing the UN ‘Climate Change’ convention, he said that the fund’s resources will be formed from payments of the United States and China, which pollute environment more than other countries.
The mentioned countries have assumes commitments to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and to provide financials resources to developing countries.
Grigoryan said that the segments where emissions of greenhouse gases exceed the norm will be among top-priority focuses.
“First of all, these are industrial enterprises – they inject considerable volumes of greenhouse gases into atmosphere,” he said. «However, we are trying to give a comprehensive solution to the problem.»
In his words, the funds will be spent on reduction of environment pollution.
“Today our norm is 1.5-1.6 tons of greenhouse gases per one resident of the country, while in Europe this norm reaches 2-2.5 tons a year,” the minister said. «But anyway, we still have plenty to do and we ought to reduce the emissions.» ---0---
