Armenian tourism head urges locals to celebrate New Year in the country
YEREVAN, November 29. /ARKA/. Head of the Tourism Committee of Armenia Lusine Gevorgyan called on residents to spend the New Year holidays in the country.
"Domestic tourism is currently one of the priority goals of the Tourism Committee. I personally visit the regions of the country and conduct research based on the regions' potential. This year, we are promoting the slogan 'New Year in Armenia' on our Facebook page. Since the New Year holidays are short, I urge our citizens to spend their holidays in Armenia and contribute to the country's economy," Gevorgyan said in an interview with ARKA news agency.
According to her, it's important to leave the big cities, such as Yerevan, and spend time with family and friends in the fresh air, try ecologically clean food in the regions of the country, and simply enjoy these days.
"There is potential for the development of domestic tourism in Armenia, and people are ready to host tourists. I spoke with companies providing tourism services, asking them to improve heating in rest areas, offer better food, and lower prices. This will create conditions so that in the coming years, people visiting Armenia will know that such services are available and of high quality. The goal is for people to look not towards neighboring countries, but towards Armenia," Gevorgyan said.
