Armenian government plans to merge three state-run universities

YEREVAN, October 13. /ARKA/. There is a plan to merge the Brusov State Linguistic University, the Abovyan State Pedagogical University and the State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Education, Science, Culture and Sports Minister Vahram Dumanyan said today.
Yesterday, the students of Yerevan's Brusov Linguistic University staged a protest after the spread of rumors that the university is to be merged with two others.
Dumanyan told reporters today that the plan had been discussed with the rectors back in August.
The minister noted that students have the right to hold protests. Addressing them, however, he noted that nothing will change dramatically for them, except that there will be one rector instead of three now. -0-
