YEREVAN, June 29. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated his promise to raise the size of the minimum average pension to the size of minimum consumer and food baskets before 2026.

Speaking at a government session on Thursday he said as part of this policy the government is raising pensions and allowances starting July 1.

Labor and Social Affairs Minister Narek Mkrtchyan said that the minimum pension will rise from 31,600 drams to 36,000 drams, while the average pension will increase from 46,100 drams to 49,700 drams. The average amount of military pension will increase from 87,500 drams to 91,600 drams.

Mkrtchyan noted that the minimum amount of pension will be worth 99.5% of the food basket which is estimated now at 36,180 drams.

The government is also raising disability allowances and for those families who lost their breadwinner. First category disabled persons' allowance will be raised to 39,000 drams, the second and third category disabled persons' allowances will rise to 37,500 drams and 36,000 drams respectively.

The allowances of persons who received category 1 disability while on duty will be raised to 50,600 drams, while categotry 2 and 3 disability allowances will be raised to 41,400 and 38,000 drams respectively. 

For the families of military men killed while on duty the pension will rise to 38 thousand drams, and payments for the loss of both parents for children under 18 years old will amount to 120 thousand drams ($1 - 386.53 drams). -0-
