YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. The office of Armenia's Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs is elaborating a pilot program to subsidize mortgage loans for those repatriates who would like to buy homes in Armenia. Hovhannes Aleksanyan, head of a department of the Office, told a discussion on the demographic situation in Armenia today.
He said the eligibility of the program's beneficiaries will be built on several factors such as the number of family members, if they have a conscript age male, the number of children in the family etc. All these criteria will provide repatriates with certain benefits when repaying their mortgage loans, he said.
The repatriates will be able to purchase housing in any city or village of Armenia. Aleksanyan said the program is already being discussed by the Council on Demographic Issues under the Prime Minister and will soon be submitted to the government's approval. -0-
