YEREVAN, April 10. /ARKA/. The Ministry of Health proposed that the government extend the state of emergency in Armenia, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said at a press conference on Friday.

The 30-day state of emergency was declared on March 16 to try to stop the spread of coronavirus. Later, the government imposed stringent restrictions on free movement of citizens and banned also some types of economic activity until April 12 inclusive.

Earlier today, a spokeswoman for the prime minister told Novosti-Armenia news agency that the government was considering the possible extension of the state of emergency.

Torosyan said the final decision should be made based on a set of circumstances, 'but in order to ensure the consistency of the measures taken so far, I believe that the state of emergency is important. After the decision is made, the public will be notified," Torosyan said.

As of April 10, 937 confirmed cases of coronavirus were recorded, 149 patients have recovered and 123 people died. -0-
