YEREVAN, November 11. /ARKA/. Mané Tandilyan, an Armenian parliament member from the Bright Armenia party, presented today to her fellow lawmakers a set of amendments to the Law on Civil Service, which suggest that starting January 1, 2020 all heads of communities declare their assets

She said many heads of communities have more assets than their communities' budgets, which requires some clarification. She said the amendments would introduce mechanisms for controlling their assets, since this segment of officials is beyond any supervision of the relevant government bodies.

According to her, the proposed amendments are aimed at curbing possible corruption risks and embezzlement of community budget funds.

Tandilyan recalled that the current legislation provides for the declaration of assets  by heads of communities with a population of more than 15 thousand people.

“Under the proposed amendments, the head of a community will have to submit a proper declaration for the past year, even if the community’s population shrinks below the limits proposed by law,” she explained.

There are 915 communities in the territory of Armenia, including 49  urban and 886  rural communities, as well as 12 administrative districts in the capital Yerevan.  –0--
