YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. Armenia’s National Assembly has approved today in the first reading a set of amendments to the law on social security of persons holding public office, which call for raising the size of retirement pensions of judges, prosecutors and investigators.

According to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs David Khachatryan, the purpose of the proposed changes is to bring the pension schemes designed for judges, prosecutors and investigators in line with the decision of the Constitutional Court, as well as to create a uniform pension plan for prosecutors and a number of officials holding positions in the investigative bodies.

The changes provide that judges' pensions will be calculated as follows: 55% of the salary multiplied by 0.9. In the case of prosecutors and employees of investigating authorities, the calculation is carried out in a similar way, but 50% of the salary is taken as the basis. -0-
