Armenian prime minister visits Malayan eye center

Armenian prime minister Tigran Sargsyan visited today the Malayan Eye Center in Yerevan, which performs such unique operations as vitreoretinal surgery, prosthetic cornea transplantation and laser treatment of glaucoma and congenital disorders, cosmetic surgery of eyelids and eye sockets. Each year the Center performs around 4,500 surgeries.

YEREVAN, April 14. /ARKA/. Armenian prime minister Tigran Sargsyan visited today the Malayan Eye Center in Yerevan, which performs such unique operations as vitreoretinal surgery, prosthetic cornea transplantation and laser treatment of glaucoma and congenital disorders, cosmetic surgery of eyelids and eye sockets. Each year the Center performs around 4,500 surgeries.

Currently, the Center develops refractive surgery – a direction of ophthalmology, engaged in correcting the optical imperfections of the eye such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. In recent years, the Center performed about 1,950 laser surgeries.

Since 1992, the Center has been the main partner of the Armenian-American "Eye Project." As part of it the center has been equipped with modern devices. Also, a mobile hospital was set up to conduct surgeries and provide free diagnostic services to socially vulnerable residents of the country. In recent years, the mobile hospital performed 50,000 eye examination , 10,000 surgeries and 4,000 laser surgeries. M.M. -0-
