Average salary in Armenia grows by 4.7 percent

The average gross salary in Armenia grew by 4.7% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2020 to 187,061 drams, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).

YEREVAN, September 25. /ARKA/. The average gross salary in Armenia grew by 4.7% year-on-year in the first eight months of 2020 to 187,061 drams, according to the National Statistical Committee (NSC).
It said in August 2020 it decreased by 3.1% from July 2020, but compared to August 2019, it was up by 2.8%.
The average salary in the public sector saw a bigger rise than in the private sector, although it could not overtake it in absolute terms.
Thus, in January-August 2020, compared to the same period in 2019, the average gross salary in the public sector increased by 7% to 165,474 drams. In August, compared to July 2020, it decreased by 13.5%, but compared to August 2019 it was up 2.6%.
In the private sector, in January-August 2020, the average gross salary increased by 3.4% from the same time span of 2019 to 197,468 drams. In August 2020, compared to July, it increased by 1.6%, and when compared to August 2019, by 2.7% ($1 - 485.32 drams) -0-
