YEREVAN, December 5. /ARKA/. The Bright Armenia opposition faction in the National Assembly asked its fellow lawmakers today to ask Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to dismiss the Minister of Environment Erik Grigoryan.
The Bright Armenia justified its initiative by a violation of the law that was made when the government was forming its budget for 2020. A representative of the faction said the funds earmarked for environmental measures for 2020 are much lower than required by law.
According to the draft budget, the budget of the Ministry of Environment for 2020 is 111 million drams more than the budget of 2019 amounting to 6.842.3 billion drams.
The initiative was opposed by the head of the ruling faction My Step Lilit Makunts, who said she saw no reason to demand the resignation of Grigoryan, and that the faction would vote against it.
Naira Zohrabyan from another opposition faction Prosperous Armenia said since there is an ad hoc commission to investigate problems in the field of subsoil use and the environment, the faction would make a decision based on an analysis of all factors, but at the moment it would not endorse the imitative. The motion was supported by 17 deputies and 67 voted against. ($1 - 477.83 drams). -0-
