Car explosion in central Yerevan injures two people, damages cars and shops

YEREVAN, September 2. /ARKA/. An emergency incident occurred in Yerevan on Tuesday afternoon.

As reported by the correspondent of the Novosti-Armenia agency, an explosion occurred in a car on Amiryan Street. The explosion was so loud that it was felt in nearby stores and other objects.

"The explosion damaged three more cars, a minibus and a city passenger bus, in which the windows were knocked out," the agency's correspondent reports.
The section of Amiryan Street between the intersections with Mashtots Avenue and Zakian Street is closed in both directions.

As the press secretary of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia Narek Sargsyan told the ARKA news agency, two people with injuries were taken to the hospital.
"At 14:43, a signal was received that a vehicle had exploded on Amiryan Street. Patrols and task forces sent to the scene found out that the explosion occurred in a Toyota. Two people with injuries were taken to the hospital, vehicles were damaged. The circumstances are being clarified," he noted.
